Elf Owl – Tiny Family-Oriented North American Bird
The sunda scops owl (latin name otus lempiji) is a small to medium-sized member of the owl family which is sandy brown in color, speckled with black and gray patches and spots. It’s streaked underneath and has a pale collar and generally quite dark brown eyes. There are six sub species of this bird found across the Malay Peninsula.
The scarlet macaw is native to South America. The species once had a large habitat to call home, including subtropical rainforests and savannah areas of Central and South America. Over the last couple of hundred years, the natural population has dropped severely, due to hunting, poaching, deforestation and the use of pesticides for cash crops.
Currently on the Endangered Species List, the brown pelican is found along the Pacific, Atlantic, and Gulf Coast of the US and Mexico, extending as far south as Venezuela on the Atlantic Coast, and to Chile on the Pacific Coast. Following the nesting season, the brown pelican can also be found northward – in Nova Scotia and British Columbia. The brown pelican’s habitat is typically waterfronts, marina, sandy beaches and lagoons in coastal areas.
